Jake Greenfield Tesla Certified Installer

EV charger installs are the single most-requested job we get. Jake handles most of them now and he's a Tesla certified installer, which means we can register your Wall Connector with Tesla on your behalf and you get the full warranty without lifting a finger.

"Most charger installs come down to one variable: how far the unit is from your panel. Everything else is just figuring out the cleanest way to get there."
Jake on Pricing

A garage with the panel mounted on the same wall as the parking spot is at the cheap end. A detached garage 60 feet away that needs a trench dug across the driveway is at the expensive end. Everything else lands in between, and we'll quote you a flat number after we look at the install location.

We don't do bait-and-switch quoting. The price you see in the quote is the price you pay. If we open the panel and find a problem we didn't see during the walkthrough, we stop, call you, explain what we found, and get your okay before we touch anything else.

Three pricing tiers, based on your install situation.

These are the all-in numbers most of our installs land in. The walkthrough is free and the quote is firm.

Questions we get about EV charger installs.

Do I need a 200A panel to install an EV charger?
Not always. A 100A panel can handle a Level 2 charger if you have headroom in the load calc, but if you're already running a heat pump, electric range, and dryer off a 100A service, you might need an upgrade or a load management device. We figure that out during the walkthrough.
What's the difference between a hardwired install and a NEMA 14-50 outlet?
A hardwired install ties the charger directly into the circuit with no plug in between, which is required for chargers above 40A and recommended for outdoor installs. A NEMA 14-50 outlet lets you unplug the charger if you ever move. Both are fine for most homes. The price is roughly the same.
Can I install the charger outside?
Yes. Most modern Level 2 chargers are rated for outdoor use (NEMA 4 or better). We weather-seal the conduit penetration and make sure the mounting is solid. Vermont winters and salt spray are not a problem if it's installed right.
Do you handle the permit?
Yes, always. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection, and handle the sign-off. You don't talk to the building department at all unless you want to.
How long does the install take?
A basic install in an attached garage with the panel nearby is usually 3 to 5 hours. A more complex install with a long wire run or a panel upgrade can take a full day or two. We tell you up front during the walkthrough.
Is there a Vermont rebate for EV chargers?
Green Mountain Power has historically offered a rebate for Level 2 chargers, and the federal tax credit (30% up to $1,000) is also available for residential installs. We're not tax advisors and the programs change, but we'll point you to the current paperwork at install time.

Need an electrician you'd actually recommend to your sister?

Tell us what's going on. We'll give you a real answer about whether we can help, when we can come out, and roughly what it'll cost. No pressure, no upsells, no weird sales scripts.
